The Police in Kazo District is holding Anxious Muhumuza, 28, a security Guard attached to RPS security company on allegations of killing a church Lay leader.
Samson Kasasira the Rwizi Region Police spokesperson identifies the deceased as Patrick Mutatina, 35, a resident of Kiringa village Burunga sub county Kazo District.
Mutatina was a lay leader at Nkungu Church of Uganda.
Kasasira said that Mutatina was shot at by Muhumuza on Saturday night as he crossed the road at Kitura Cooperative SACCO where he (Muhumuza) was keeping guarding.
Samuel Mugume an eyewitness told URN reporter that Mutatina was rushed to the nearby clinic with a bullet wound where he died on arrival.
Mugume said that Muhumuza was drunk and kept shouting at everyone who crossed near the SACCO before he shot Mutatina.
Kasasira said that Muhumuza was apprehended and the murder weapon a Semi-Auto Rifle recovered at the scene with four live ammunition.
Mutatina is currently being held at Kazo Central Police Station where he was transferred to, from Nkungu Police Station where the case was registered.
Rwizi Region has registered over 139 murders in the last seven months.
