The federal government of Ethiopia has exposed a ploy by multinational news-based pay television channel CNN to further amplify false propaganda about the situation in the Northern part of the country, this time alleging that there is an ongoing genocide in the area.

In a statement on Thursday, Government Communication Service noted that Ethiopia is privy to information that CNN intends to release a false report claiming that there is genocide taking place in Tigray.

“The Government of Ethiopia has received credible information that CNN intends to misinform the world once again through a supposed report claiming genocide is taking place in the Tigray region. If ever there was a nefarious weaponization and deliberate misrepresentation of the word genocide, then it would have to be the ‘Tigray Genocide’, a narrative so unscrupulously constructed,” read thr statement in part.

It should be noted that Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) rebels who lost the country’s power after 27 years, have been involved in planning and implementing violence seen in the Tigray and neighbouring regions of Afar abd Amhara since the coming into power of PM Abiy Ahmed in 2018. They have subjected innocent people to all forms of abuse from killings, displacement, rape and using children as soldiers.

Their main intention is to illegally force regime change and regain state power. They have rejected all peaceful avenues to resolve their grievances, but instead acted victim of crimes they commit, and indeed they either convinced or collaborated with international community including media and humanitarian organizations to paint a narrative that Ethiopian authorities are committing the crimes on the people.

CNN and some international media in what seems to be a syndicated move to undermine efforts of the Ethiopian authorities to restore normalcy in the Tigray region have for a long time alleged arbitrary arrests, detention and what they referred to as near genocide by the Abiy administration.

A joint investigation team of Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) and the UN Office of the High Commissioner of Human Rights, at the start of last month dispelled allegations of genocide in Tigray but blamed both sides for violating himan rights.

The two bodies established that the claim of genocide is false and utterly lacking of any factual basis. The report stated that they did not find any evidence to support the claim of deliberate or willfully denial of humanitarian assistance to the civilian population in Tigray or the use of starvation as a weapon of war.

The false claims are aimed at advancing the agenda of the armed group, whose point of disagreement is not anchored on principle but from the anger of their unexpected loss of influence in matters of the country.

Since the outbreak of fighting between Ethiopia federal security forces and Tigray regional forces when the Latter, attacked military bases in the area and gruesomely murdered thousands of soldiers, all indicators point to the fact that the ancient nation is explicitly under attack in a Libya-like style by imperialists who seem not ready to relent until Ethiopia’s legitimate government falls.

Having imposed all sorts of bad governance on the people of Ethiopia ranging from lack of accountability, tribalism, corruption, to poor economic growth for 27 years they ruled the country before being forced out by mass protests, TPLF has vowed to by hook or crook return to power.

The intention is to first of all, make the country ungovernable for Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, but also create ground for the direct intervention of TPLF’s international allies and ensure that the legitimate government is forced out of power and they (TPLF) are clandestinely returned.

TPLF massacred over 6000 soldiers during the attacks on the Northern Command in the first five days of that first year of the war, which began on November 3. Altogether they murdered over 7600 people over the course of a week.

These atrocities have carried-on amid sponsored biased reporting by the international media who have taken it upon themselves to act as the mouthpiece of the declared terrorist group – amplifying their agenda against the State.

Of course as expected, they are widely reporting how Tigrayans are persecuted but never do they report that TPLF attacked military bases, later rejected Unilateral Ceasefire declared by federal government and that it is commiting more atrocities on Ethiopians on a daily as well as stifling access of humanitarian support in Tigray inorder to attract international sympathy.

Government’s numerous calls to the international community to assess the Tigray conflict with objectivity have been literally been ignored, the US and the West instead, are consistently accusing government of human rights violation as well as piling pressure on it to bow down to the rebels.

They have never recognized the fact that the federal government has a responsibility of protecting civilians from any form of aggression. Never have they highlighted government’s moves of extending humanitarian support to the affected communities or its numerous efforts to reconcile with TPLF. All they are doing is to blame.

  1. This is false narrative. You just copied the lies of the Ethiopian government. The government of Tigray didn’t attack any military command instead the Ethiopian, Eritrean and Amhara forces committed genocide on the people of Tigray. That is obvious, many massacre sites were not visited by the joint investigation and its methodologies are absolutely flawed. So it is a report that white washed the crimes of the Ethiopian government and Eritrean government forces. Do a bit of googling on what you are talking about

  2. CNN is ready to release another fake news it has been cooking on Genocide in Tigray, how is it possible that there is no war in Tigray, the terrorist TPLF brought the war to Amhara and Afar regions where they committed the worst genocide and CNN is ignoring the real genocide and manufacture the fake genocide in Tigray… journalism is dead

  3. Africa for Africans! #NoMore neo-colonialism!

Ethiopians are so proud of you our brother Kungu Al-Mahadi Adam!

  4. USA seems to want to blame Ethiopia for everything in order to regime change. The president maybe aware that he was feed false narrative from TPLF friends in the white house. We all know TPLF formed a good relationship with high offical USA diplomats. USA needs to reinvestigate and bring to justice these who might have mislead the USA government.
