Juru Banks, a 14 year old is seeking $150,000 for treatment of an abnormality in her body that is causing too much pain and abnormal enlargement of some of her body parts.
Her mother Chammy Zaina Uwera says her daughter was born normally but developed serious abdominal pains at the age of 2. Efforts to establish the cause and solution locally have hit a dead end
She has been screaming of abdominal pain and headaches for the last 12 years. We visited many specialists but they could not trace the source of her pains. We then resorted to using pain killers which is has survived on for 12 years,” says Uwera.
“Unfortunately, the body no longer responds to painkillers after taking them over the years. Juru’s upper side of the body is growing bigger and longer than the left side,” she adds.
The most recent MRI scan shows that she has a mass on her liver. The right side of her stomach is enlarged. Her right side of the face is growing bigger too. Because of that, she has been bullied and assaulted by her age mates.
The young girl wears big clothes to cover her abnormalities because of herow self esteem. She doesn’t want to go to school anymore because of social stigma.
“As a mother, I am slowly dying inside seeing my child in this situation. God knows, I have tried everything to make her okay. I need her to live a normal life like any other person. I humbly request for your financial support to make this possible,” Uwera says.
