The Kyabazinga of Busoga William Gabula Nadiope IV has on Saturday awarded Baba TV and Baba FM, both media outlets under Baba Media Group, for their distinguished service in empowering and transforming women and youth in Busoga Kingdom.

According to Gabula Royal Foundation, the Distinguished Service Award has been awarded to the two stations “in recognition of your diligent and dedicated service to Busoga region towards Youth/Women Empowerment through Skilling (2018-2022)”.

The two stations have hugely excelled in influencing sustainable development through providing informative, educative, entertaining and cultural programming that drives economic, social, and political development in Eastern Uganda and the country at large.

Programs that teach women, youth and other people on how to better their lives through agriculture and other sectors are given a priority at the two stations.

After receiving the award, Baba Media Group CEO, Moses Grace Balyeku thanked the Kyabazinga for recognizing the group’s efforts in making Busoga and Uganda better. He said the award has motivated them to work harder.

“I thank our Kyabazinga for recognizing us and the work we do. We are so delighted and hope to use this award to double our efforts towards the development of the people of Busoga and the Kingdom,” Balyeku said.

“It is good our actions in the few years of existence are speaking louder on addressing challenges such as the high levels of illiteracy, unemployment, poverty, disease among others in the region,” he added.

The stations have since inception extensively covered developments in Busoga Kingdom, relaying live events organized by the kingdom, conducted interviews with Kingdom officials including the Premier, Owek. Joseph Muvawala Nsekere as well as rallying masses towards engaging in kingdom activities.

This is not the first time Baba Media is recognized in less than six months. In December last year, the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Edward Frederick Kimera Muwenda Mutebi II, awarded Baba Television for its distinguished services in the field of information dissemination, and maintaining good relations with the Kingdom.

A certificate of appreciation given to Baba Television signed by Owek. Peter Mayiga, the Kingdom’s Kattikiro indicated, “This station has been awarded this certificate in appreciation of the cooperation, good relationship and support it has offered to Buganda Kingdom in terms of publicizing activities and programs of the kingdom”.

Baba FM is based in Jinja in Eastern Uganda and broadcasts on 87.7 FM.

Baba TV is the Official Busoga Kingdom TV, with studios in Jinja City and Kampala, and available to watch on all digital platforms including DSTV CH374, Azam TV CH365, ZUKU CH522, GOTV CH 393, Star sat CH 505 and StarTimes CH235.
