Police in Oyam are holding Thomas Omara for allegedly killing his wife Collins Atim in a domestic brawl on Saturday night. It is alleged that Omara picked up a quarrel with his wife, which led to his death.

He was arrested by the area LC I Chairperson, Jonan Okulo, and his committee and handed to Aleka police station where he is in custody. Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga Police Spokesperson, says that the suspect will be charged with murder.

According to Okema, incidents of couples killing their spouses are on the rise. Okema appealed to married and cohabiting couples to be careful when responding to the challenges in their homes and learn to respect relationships.

In November, Police in Kole arrested a man for allegedly killing his wife and cousin over extramarital affairs.

The suspect Moses Ongom, a resident of Beiko village, Opeta parish, Aboke sub-county was arrested for stabbing his wife, Conny Adong, and cousin Ambrose Okwir after he caught them red-handed having sex on his marital bed.

In October, Margate Apio was arrested when she hit her husband’s forehead and legs with a blunt object during a domestic fight leading to his death.
