The father to Buyaga West Member of Parliament Barnabas Tinkasimire, Mzee Elicard Rwemera has passed on at the age of 115.

He died on Monday April 18 at around 1pm, according to Tinkasimire, who noted that his father will be laid to rest tomorrow Thursday April 21 at his home at Bosoiga village, Muhorro Town Council, Kagadi District.

“I inform the Kattikiro of Bunyoro, Bishops of Hoima Catholic Diocese, Bunyoro Kitara Diocese, Regional Khadi, all Ministers and Mps from Bunyoro, all political leaders and the entire public that my dad has rested,” Tinkasimire said on Wednesday.

He was born on April 15, 1907 in Kabale District, Kashasha Subcounty, Buhanyura Village. He was the 3rd born among nine children.

As he was growing up, he was a very shrewd person to an extent that his elders would respect and listen to him.

In following the above as he was if the age of starting to think on how to survive, he was recruited in King’s African Rifles Army in 1945 in Ndorwa Subcounty, Kabale district. By that the requirement to join thr forces was only 6FT and above. He was 6.2FT.

Being a giant man, he was highly welcomed in the forces and he was directly attached to the second world war forces with a number 15061A.

He was transferred to Kenya and he was baptised on March 25, 1945 in Mombasa at the age of 38.

He was blessed with 16 children, 12 are living up to date, 4 deceased and among those 7 are males and 9 are females.

At the time of his death, he had 118 grandchildren, 158 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren and 4 great great great grandchildren.

After his retirement, he worked as Court Censor in Kabale Chief Magistrates Court. Thereafter, he went to Zaire as a game ranger then returned to Kashasha, Buhanyura and relocated to Bunyoro in 1970s by Uganda government.
