Nakaseke District Woman MP, Hon Sarah Najjuma, says people ought to be appreciated for their good deeds while still living as opposed to the praises made to them when dead.

She made the remarks during an event at Butalangu in Nakaseke organized to recognize and appreciate outstanding leadership in the district.

“Giving thanks is good for the person giving it as well as the one receiving it. So why don’t we express gratitude to people when still living?” Najjuma asked.

Najjuma who thanks Gen Salim Saleh, the Cordinator Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), for contributing towards the development of the district and welfare of its people, donated Shs2 million to the District Council SACCO.

At the event, Gen Salim Saleh, was awarded by Nakaseke District Local Government in appreciation of his tremendous effort towards improving service delivery in the District.

On his part, the General of the Resistance expressed pleasure in the award, saying he has never felt appreciated like this in in the 25 years he has spent in Nakaseke.

He further applauded the District Leadership for a commendable initiative and promised more support towards development of the District.

He however cautioned leaders against spending much time in unhelpful political talks as opposed to participating in activities that improve the livelihoods of the citizens.

Gen Saleh later presided over the ground breaking of the second phase of the construction of the District Headquarters, after completion of the first phase.

Other leaders who were recognized include Dr Diana Atwine the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Hajjat Syda Bbumba the former MP NAKASEKE North Constituency, Hon Rose Namayanja, Dr Sengonzi, Senior Citizen Hajji Nyanzi among others.

The event was also graced by various dignatories including the RDC Capt Yahaya kakooza and his Deputy Muyambi Moses, the District Chairperson Ignatius Kiwanuka Koomu, Hon Enoçk Nyongore MP Nakaseke North, CAO Nakaseke Hajjat Sarah Nakalungi, District councillors, technical staff among others.
