The President of Somalia Hassan Shiekh Mohamud has arrived in Uganda for a two-day working visit running from August 8-10.

At Entebbe, he was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gen Jeje Odongo.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and his host H.E Yoweri Museveni, will tomorrow Tuesday preside over the first Uganda – Somalia Investment Business Summit under the theme “Promoting Uganda – Somalia Patnership through Investment, Trade and Tourism” at the Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala.

At the Summit, the two leaders will address the Private Sector and the Business communities of both countries.

According to the Uganda Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the primary objective of the Investment and Business Summit is to provide a platform for Private Sector together with other relevant stakeholders like Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), to freely exchange views and ideas on how to ease the cost-of-doing-business, and thus richly reap from existing and future business opportunities by agreeing on how to overcome existing challenges, learn lessons and business strategies for smooth mutual exchange between the two markets of Uganda and Somalia and beyond.

It is intended to strengthen Bilateral Cooperation in Trade and Investment between Uganda and Somalia, support potential investors or Business Community with a conducive business environment as well as raising awareness about investment and business opportunities that exist between Uganda and Somalia.

The forum is also aimed at enlightening the private sector on positive Investment policy changes in Uganda and Somalia, open dialogue and create a platform for collaboration between Uganda and Somalia public and private sectors as well as address any residual Non-Tariff Barriers, hindering trade and investment between Uganda and Somalia.
