Two young men again accused Pastor Robert Kayanja the founder and senior Pastor of the Miracle Centre Cathedral of sodomising them, in a new case.

While appearing before Kiryandongo Chief Magistrate’s Court, Sentongo Reagan and Lababi Kalifah last month told Magistrate Lucy Kabahuma that the Senior Pastor sodomised them and later intimidated them into silence.

The pair had been remanded on what they call conceited and fake charges in Kiryandongo prison in order to cover up for the sodomy and rape issue they have against the Pastor. They claim he wants to out them away to defeat the evidence they have against him.

They said as a divergence, they were rushed away to Kiryandongo on trumped-up charges of causing grievous harm contrary to section 29 of the Penal Code Act. In their defence, they say they are innocent and that they are the victims here.

Pastor Robert Kayanja was then summoned to appear in court for cross examination on 5th September 2022 at 10.00am

Sentongo told Court that until his arrest, he served as the Operations Manager at Pastor Kayanja’s farm since 2018 and that on the day of their arrest, he and five other colleagues he worked with, went to Pastor Kayanja’s Church at Rubaga to inform him of their “sodomy money, salaries and treatment.”

“We met him in his office and told him about our money, salaries and treatment because it is him who sodomised us. I would take some tabs (tablets) given to me by Dr. Lukyamuzi of Mengo Hospital, while some of my colleagues would be operated,” Sentongo told Court.

“He then asked us whether that was the reason we had left his farm, and we responded to the affirmative. It is from here that he said ‘I don’t want you back to my farm, I am going to get your money and pay you and I don’t want you to talk about this sodomy stuff again. If you talk about it, you will be arrested, so be careful’. He then after the meeting gave me shs1 million and said I keep using it as he gets my money,” Sentongo added.

Sentongo explained further that Pastor Kayanja said that that was the only money he had at the moment but will reach of to them for more. He however reportedly warned them against saying anything to anyone or disclosing their private communication exchange they had with him.

According to Sentongo, on the day of their arrest, at Rubaga Miracle Center, a patrol car blocked their way and the officers on board told them to put their phones down before beating them up and later putting them on gun point.

The soldiers also asked them to erase everything they had in their phones, according to Sentongo.

They were then rushed to Old Kampala Police Station where they were detained for six days. While there, Sentongo says, one of the Police officers who learnt of their situation advised them to open a case of sodomy against Kayanja.

“The Police Officer even told us that it is not the first time they were getting reports concerning the same matter about the same man (Pastor Kayanja),” Sentongo told Court.

He reiterated that they were then taken to Kiryandongo Police Station on September 24, 2021 and later remanded. It was from there that a number of ‘trumped-up’ charges were slapped against them.

His co-accused Lababi Kalifah also echoed the same explanation.

On August 18, Magistrate Lucy Kabahuma adjourned the matter to September 5 and Pastor Robert Kayanja was expected to appear.
