Uganda U20 Women’s National Team skipper Fauzia Najjemba is optimistic the team will be in good shape ahead of the encounters against Ghana.

With the first leg for the fourth round of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers between Uganda and Ghana slated for 22nd January at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, Najjemba believes they will be in perfect shape to face the West African nation.

“For the days we have trained, the girls are well motivated, we are in good mood and progressing in each and every training session we have had so far,” said the captain.

The forward asserts that the coaches are making sure they improve in each and every department so that they form a formidable side that will take on Ghana.
“We are hoping for the very best against Ghana. We want to keep improving as a team and in every department so that by the time we face Ghana, we are very good.”

With the ultimate target being qualification to the World Cup which will be Uganda’s first in it’s football history, Najjemba is aware of the weight behind the target but she remains confident that the team has ability to sail through.

“We believe in ourselves as players and I know we shall make it. Our target is to become the first Ugandan football team to play at the World Cup and everyone in camp is working towards achieving that.”

To reach this stage, Uganda eliminated Kenya and South Africa at the second and third round respectively.

The winner on aggregate between Uganda and Ghana will face either Ethiopia or Tanzania at the final qualifying stage.
