Uganda’s representatives in the CAF Champions League Qualifier Vipers SC Vipers have Saturday afternoon ejected DR Congo’s TP Mazembe on penalty shootouts after playing to a goalless draw in their second leg tie in the second preliminary round at Stade TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi.

The penalties ended 2-4 in favor of the visitors who scored through Ashiraf Mandela, Disan Galiwango, Bright Anukani and Olivier Osomba.

The two teams also played to a barren draw last week Sunday in their first leg tie at St Mary’s stadium in Kitende.

Vipers now qualify for the rewarding champions league group stages, a stage they have never reached in their lifetime.

Coach Roberto Oliviera’s men have become the second club from Uganda to reach group stages of the tourney after Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) FC in 2018.
