As Uganda and the world at large was going through one of the greatest shocks ,Corona Virus ,which left numbers dead and families devasted ,around October 2020 the internet was awash with photos of Julie Mutesasira one of the greatest gospel artists Uganda had in the early 2000s with her newly wedded sweet heart who is also a woman .
Yes there have been claims ,pictures which affirmed that she was a lesbian ,however it was till yesterday night during an interview backstage before her children Esther and Ezekiel performed she confirmed that she was a homosexual and she also stated why she left Uganda suddenly.
“I decided to leave Uganda because of my sexuality ,being a gay woman and married to a pastor in Uganda is an abormination,” says Juliet Mutesasira. She confirmed in a backstage interview on April 19.
Esther and Ezekiel performed a song by Jordin Sparks “No Air” which left some of the audience and judges on their feet as a sign of love to what they heard.
Before legalising her same sex marriage in 2020 ,Julie Mutesasira with her sweet heart Pearl Elisabeth K the two got married in a secret wedding in Canada.
Julie was married to a famous city pastor known as Pastor Steven Mutesasira of the Redeemed of the Lord Evangelistic Church, Kamwokya. In the marriage they had they bore three children that kept their marriage ties strong and intact at that time.
Two of their children are Esther and Ezekiel Mutesasira who are the current crown holders of the 2019 East Africa’s Got Talent (EAGT) competition which was in Nairobi,Kenya, October 6 2020, and walked away with a cash prize of 50,000 dollars.
However,when the duo returned to the country days after EAGT ,they were welcomed only by their father Pastor Steven Mutesasira which left lots of question marks on where Julie was at such an important moment in the lives of their children.
Julie first relocated to the United States of America (USA) in 2016 and for about five years she was a no show in the Ugandan scene .
The next time she was popularly on the Ugandan scene was when her wedding pictures with her new lover leaked on the internet.
Julie was popularly known for her mellodius voice in her songs such Lwana Nabo, Saba, Asobola ,Yani , Nzuno ,Kijakugwa among others which still have a great impact on the lives of Ugandans.
