Senior Journalist, Sir Simon Muyanga Lutaaya on Friday wrote a letter to the President of Uganda, Gen Yoweri Museveni, seeking to be appointed Prime Minister of the country to free the office of the Prime Minister (OPM) of endless scandals and reorganize government towards bettering the lives of the population.

In the letter delivered to and received by the office of the President, Muyanga noted that OPM whose leader heads government business, has for long remained a den of thieving who steal from the poor without any remorse.

He said it is a shame that even recently ministers ‘stole’ and ‘shared’ with impunity, iron sheets and goats meant for the vulnerable people of Karamoja from the OPM.

“The country learnt–with shock–of the shameful pilfering by your honorable ministers in the cabinet led by the Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, Prime Minister, who stole and shared iron sheets and goats meant for the vulnerable people of Karamoja, an area you love so much that you once deployed your only begotten and beloved wife and 1st Lady of the country, Hon. Janet Museveni, to supervise,” writes Muyanga in his bombshell letter in part.

He says the country needs honesty and focused leaders like him to assist the President implement his manifesto and developmental programs meant to benefit the poor.

Below is his detailed letter to the President:

                                                            17th March, 2023.

Gen. (RTD) Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Kaguta Museveni

President of the Republic of Uganda.

State House, Entebbe.

Your Excellency,

RE: OPEN APPLICATION FOR THE VACANCY OF PRIME MINISTER

Welcome back from the South Africa-Uganda Business Summit where you championed the signing of several bilateral agreements that will augment the current revenue basket.

While you were away, the country learnt–with shock–of the shameful pilfering by your honorable ministers in the cabinet led by the Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, Prime Minister, who stole and shared iron sheets and goats meant for the vulnerable people of Karamoja, an area you love so much that you once deployed your only begotten and beloved wife and 1st Lady of the country, Hon. Janet Museveni, to supervise.

A certain minister used the loot to roof the cowshed for his cattle and pigs, another repainted and sold the iron sheets in efforts to cover the doctrinal theft that has become synonymous in the Office of the Prime Minister.

Several others lied that they donated the same to schools and churches in their different constituents. Well as the said ministers are supposed to fish as fishermen do, they used wrong nets to scoop all edible and non-edible aquatic animals.

This is ashaming and too cheap for people that your government pays so well amidst starving citizens. This is not the first time the office of the Prime Minister gets embroiled in theft and betrayal of citizens.

Such incorrigible and consistent scandals that continue to emanate from the OPM proves that that office has become a hub for stealing from the poor people and as a country we shall lose donor funding.

These people, because you appoint them not by meritocracy but based on who is loyal to you the most, are incompetent and not fit for the job. They take years wondering how they got there to confirm their undeserving credentials. It is like they are appointed to steal, enrich themselves and malinger around.

Your excellency, Singapore developed in the shortest time because of meritocracy, honesty and pragmatism which Professor Lee Kuan Lew steered.

With me on the job, we will easily change that given our friendly 11th Parliament. If parliament proves, I know who can handle it in no minute and all is done, trust me your

Excellency. I am therefore openly writing to you this application for the office of Prime Minister to assist you reorganize the government and restore the public confidence in the Office. I will ensure that no resources are stolen or abused.

Your Excellency I have chosen not to lament but offer myself to assist you in running the government through the office of the Prime Minister.

Your Excellency, I ably argued for change of model of appointing a Prime Minister, restructuring of resource mobilization and allocation in government and restoration of sanity and public confidence in the OPM.

I am now ready and awaiting your instrument to assume the role of Prime Minister of Uganda as soon as possible. Otherwise, should this delay, theft may grow feathers and this will make the voters who love you boil with anger because of thieves in your government.

You mean well for this country but you lack honest people because even when you trusted women you can now testify that graft has no gender.

Warm greetings from Kayiira Village, Buyuge Parish in Gadumire Sub County of Kaliro District.

Thank you, your Excellency. For God and My Country.
