President Yoweri Museveni Friday held meeting with soldiers of the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) at the Nakasongola airbase in Nakasongola district, according to deputy Presidential Press Secretary Faruk Kirunda.

During the meeting, Kirunda says, the President discussed “matters pertaining to the welfare of the soldiers.”

A photo shared on social media shows the President fully dressed in a military combat addressing soldiers sitting down as they attentively listen to him.

Kirunda did not provide further details regarding the President’s meeting with the soldiers.

Nakasongola air base was built in the 1970s by Israelites as the headquarters of the Uganda air force. The air base is at a strategic location where UPDF can conduct flights over DR Congo and South Sudan.
