The offices of the Alternative Movement in Makindye Lukuli Nanganda are currently reportedly under siege by the military.

The Pressure group is led by Norman Tumuhimbise, an activist and writer. He has previously written books critical to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the NRM government.

The writer is expected to launch his new books entitled ‘Liars and Accomplices’ and ‘The Komanyoko Politics Unsowing the Mustard Seed’ at the end of this month.

Soldiers are said to be surrounding the offices which also house ‘The Alternative Digitalk’, an online television station. No body is reportedly allowed in or out of the offices.

One of the staff members who preferred anonymity told this news website that he had returned to office when he saw military men in dozens surrounding the offices.

“The soldiers are allover the place, my colleagues inside are not picking calls, am afraid that the worst could be happening to them,” says one of the staff.

By publication of this story, our efforts to reach authorities in security were futile since they could not pick our repeated telephone calls.

There is suspicion that the deployment could be in relation to the two books – ‘Liars and Accomplices’ and ‘The Komanyoko Politics Unsowing the Mustard Seed’ which are said to be critical to government.

Some individuals including satirical novelist Kakwenza Rukirabashaija have in the past alleged that they were illegally arrested, detained and tortured for criticising President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni through their writings.
